#NeverSettle for the Ordinary ‘coz #OnePlus is always a Step ahead

Dear Rajiv Makhni

I thought why not pen down a little more to let you know, Why I should be the chosen one to win the priceless #Oneplus3T signed by you. I have been participating and interacting in various posts by you, on the weekly #RajivMakhnionUC, #AskRajiv because more that the prize itself, it was a great experience to get interacting with someone who you love seeing speak on gadgets. Being a gadget freak, the prizes were secondary, but getting answered or interacting with you was special. But then, when I saw this post, i thought, it should be me who must win it, first for that its an Oneplus3T which is on offer. Second the autograph on it makes it priceless. i.e my most favorite gadget brand, topped up with an autograph of my most favorite gadget guru.

Let me explain a bit further in this, How i fell in love with Oneplus and the journey so far. Most of my friends used to tease me that am a Brand Ambassador of Oneplus and that am their unpaid marketing guy!. But then, I love the concept, love their devices and always felt #Oneplus is truly value for money, with the best build quality, latest on offer and is the Phone everyone must settle for.

The first time, I heard about Oneplus is July 2013, when my friend purchased one through my credit card. But then there were no shareable invites then and i had to wait till Sep 2014 to order one from my friend’s account as he had an invite then. Paying via paypal , international conversion, Interactions in the oneplus forum, finding some one to Bring to India, it was an experience itself before i got my hands on the all new awesome Oneplus then. I was upgrading from Google Nexus 4.

When oneplus launched in India, was among the few who were already using it, suggested friends to go for it and #NeverSettle and shared a lot of invites after to friends. Once you start using it, there is no going back. Lot of my fans were skeptical saying oh another chinese brand, do they have service. But I bought my Oneplus1 in US in 2014 and never had to take it to a service center so far. That’s how awesome the device has performed. Photos are amazing.

When the Oneplus Two was launched, went for an upgrade right away and passed my Oneplus 1 to my wife. She is still using it, and finds it the best among the ones she used and doesn’t want to move away to a different one unless i get here the 3T or Oneplus 5 !.

I added the Stylish Oneplus Powerbank to my kitty when it was launched and I always went for original oneplus accessories.

I am still using Oneplus2, as with a phone of 4gb ram, 64gb memory, i don’t feel like i need an upgrade !. It’s still ahead. So was planning to go for the Oneplus5 directly. However when i saw that this is signed by Rajiv, my eyes lit up !. May be its time i add to my Keepsakes, an autograph from a Gadget Guru !!

I collect Cricket and Sports persons autographs as a hobby. Here is a quick look into my Cricket Keepsakes Page. https://www.facebook.com/CricketKeepsakes/

Now what has it to with this? Yes, i feel it has. As i always love to collect autographs, a gadget signed by gadget guru is priceless for that matter and would be a fantastic one for a gadget freak like me. And this will also ensure I proudly add this signed phone to my Keepsakes collection, of course I will do what it takes to ensure the autograph stays, with protective cases and handling in usage.

Untitled

May be after you read this, you may want the folks at Oneplus India to feature me in a Video of theirs too :-). All said and done, I am waiting for the Oneplus 5, as I feel the next device will be another awesome launch by them to stay ahead of the rest. Yes, there will always be 1 or 2 other phones with some killer features, but I will Never Settle, and will stay ahead with Oneplus which gives the best value for money and top end phones which stay ahead of the rest.

Return of the Super Kings ( and Royals )

There has been lot of questions among the fans on what will happen to IPL in 2018,

What happens to Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions?

Will Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals come back next year?

Are we going to see a 10 Team IPL or 8 Team IPL?

Will all the players go back to auction?

So I thought I would pen down my opinion, thoughts on this scenario. The views expressed are based on information I’ve heard and what I expect to happen.

Where do Gujarat Lions and RP Supergiant go?

Some fans are wondering what happens RPS and GL, is it fair that their teams disappear after 2 years, what if RPS win this year?.etc.. Let’s take a quick look at how these two teams came into existence. With all the negativity that happened after the suspension of CSK and RR in 2016, in order to avoid the lack of interest in conventional bidding and inorder to attract Buyers for the 2 Teams, BCCI introduced a Reverse bidding auction. These teams were offered by BCCI for a period of 2 years, with BCCI investing 40 Cr from the central revenue pool. The two teams were brought in more like substitutes for 2 Years to keep the same format, total matches and to fulfil sponsor commitments. Also the addition of Teams, ensured BCCI doesn’t lose out on the revenue due to absence of teams.

BlogRPSGMSKolkata-based Sanjiv Goenka’s company New Rising and Delhi-based handset maker Intex won bids for 2 new IPL franchises for participating in 2016 and 2017 IPL. The teams were named as Rising Pune Supergiant(s) and Gujarat Lions. While the base price was set as Rs 40 Crore, RPS for Pune was won with a bid of minus Rs 16 Crore and GL for Rajkot for minus Rs 10 crore. So these two owners who put in the lowest amount — agreeing to accept the lowest share of the IPL’s central revenue pool, won the bids. Players were drafted into 2 Teams and then the Teams were allowed to buy players around them.

So it is obvious that these two teams are not in scheme of things in the 2018 Edition of IPL. However this doesn’t rule out the two teams or owners are not going to be involved further.

BlogGL

Keshav Bansal is a great sports enthusiast and is passionate about cricket. Sanjiv Goenka of RPSG Group, already has investments and interest in Football and may be keen to continue his involvement in Cricket as well. Both these owners will have the options to invest in a New team, only if BCCI decide to expand the IPL with 10 teams and if they win the rights through a new bidding OR the owners could be interested to buy stake in other teams which can act as a platform for their brand promotion or involvement.

Also with the reverse bidding process, the 2 Teams were not eligible to earn shares from the central revenue pool. The revenue options were Prize Money, Performance based incentives, if teams made it to Playoff, Stadium Ticket Sale in Home games, Sponsorships and Merchandise. So not sure how successful each of the Owner was ( in 2016 GL did make it to playoff, Stadium turnaround was good and sure Intex had a great platform for the brand ). While RPS had a disappointing injury hit 1st season, empty stands, it will be interesting to see if owners of RPS made any direct or indirect growth. It is more likely at this stage, that RPS will make it to Playoff in 2017 IPL and that will help. This will have an impact on their future presence either bidding for Teams, or looking for potential avenues. Who knows franchise like Delhi Daredevils may look for investors to sell part of their stake, and Keshav Bansal may be eyeing it already?!. May be Diageo has other priorities and is looking to sell shares and RPSG may get in to rename Royal Challengers to Rising Bengaluru Supergiants !.Return of CSK / RR and possible expansion. .

With 2 substitute teams going out, the 2 suspended Teams will come back in 2018 Edition. The Contracts with sponsors and all sponsors end in 2017, BCCI will sell the Media rights for IPL for a period of 10 Years, i.e 2018-2027.

The BCCI may decide to add 2 more teams ( to make it a 10 Team IPL ) in 2018 or sometime in future. However this will not increase the matches more than 76. Either it’s going to be 60 matches with 8 Teams or a maximum of 76 matches with 10 Teams.

Now with the return of the teams confirmed, the next Big Question is Team Composition and Key Players.

Team Compositions

When the IPL Started, the original agreement signed with BCCI and Team Owners, All the players were supposed to be going back to the auction pool after three years. However in the interest to maintain fan loyalties and various reasons, new retention rule was brought in. There are already reports that since everything starts fresh, players will also go into auction.

However if am right, the agreement for retention of 5 players + 1 by right to match in auction, is done for 3 Years last year. Reports suggest some teams feel all players must be released into auctions. However if this happens, the Teams will be given 5 Right to match cards, and marque players in the likes of Virat, MS Dhoni, Rohit, Gambhir, David Warner will be going back to their respective franchises. Either by retention, or by right to match, sure most teams will want to build a team around their main stars, who had given them success and a fan base. Teams I feel will push for retention of 5 and to keep the existing rule are MI, RCB, SRH, KKR, CSK and RR. Not sure with KXIP, but sure DD will want to start fresh, yet again.

Also one reason, why players may go into auction with the 5 right to match cards is that this won’t lead to any player dispute on salaries and that the team who have the purse to buy, can match and build rest of Team with others.

I am of the Opinion, that teams must be allowed to retain players to build around their main players to have team bonding as well as to keep the fan base. No Team would want to lose 25-30% or even more fans after building a franchise for 10 years. No am not talking as a CSK Fan, to have MS Dhoni or Suresh Raina with CSK. It’s more to do in the longer run of building city loyal fans for the franchise.

Blogcaptains

The young generation form an important part of the fan base. Players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir have huge fan following and if they move to different teams, they will shift big number of fans to the new franchise. Though some teams have really managed to build loyal fans ( Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore ), it will be an interesting to see who do they support if their main line up changes. So given the situation, I don’t see that all players going into auction pool and If that happens, then sure there will be 5 right to match cards, which will allow Teams to keep their icon or main player.

BlogAuction

Ok, so Retention and Rfright to match is clear, but what happens to Ajinkya Rahane or Smith or Dhoni or Ashwin, with RPS/GL not in the IPL?

With the return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, the right to retain players or using match card, will be from the players they had in the last team. I am not sure if there is any official rule or confirmation in this subject.  However I presume, for Players who were part of the squads of CSK and RR in 2016, the respective teams will have the rights over retention/right to match and for the rest of the players, it will remain with the rest of the 6 teams who they played for in 2017. This is more practical and allows all the main 8 teams to build a fresh team in 2018, with a core team which had represented them before and continue building on the fans they have built over years.

That’s it from me and I think, I have clarified a few doubtful minds and that what I have put up is right. Do correct me if there is any contract facts and looking forward for your feedback. All Set to Cheer for our Super Indian Saina Nehwal at BWF Super Series Finals

The 2015 BWF World Superseries finals is scheduled for 9-13 December and all set for a Grand Finale !!

For the ones, who are not aware much about World Super Series, The MetLife BWF World Superseries is a circuit of 12 tournaments attracting the top 32 world ranked players in singles (men’s and women’s) and doubles (men’s, women’s and mixed). The 12 legs of the series (eight in Asia, three in Europe and one in Oceania) lead to a finals – the best of the best. The top eight in each discipline qualify to compete in the season finale – the Dubai World Superseries Finals at Hamdan Sports Complex, Dubai, UAE.

Banner-1-980x394.jpg

Saina Nehwal, our #SuperIndian is recovering from the injury and we are hopeful that she will be back at her best, to compete with the World’s Best. In 2011, Saina created history by becoming the 1st Indian singles player to reach the final of BWF Super Series Masters Finals in Liuzhou, China, where she lost a closely contested game against the then No. 1 Wang Yihan from China.

Currently ranked No 2, we are sure that our Champion will give her best in Dubai. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. But to stand by our Super Indian, Star Sports have come up with an awesome initiative to bring together all her biggest fans and what more, cheer for Saina live in Dubai to make sure she feels at home and has all the fan support, just beside.

Fan Squad.JPG

Star Sports Saina Squad, is a unique opportunity for Saina fans, like me to cheer for her when she takes the court. The various stages included #SainaFacts (collecting various Saina fact cards), #QuizMasterSaina (Answering interesting questions asked by Saina through video messages),  #SainaFanHunt ( unique timeline treasure hunt thru Saina’s social media profiles), #UnPuzzleSaina (Solving Jigsaw puzzles) and #Cheer4Saina (Creating innovative chants). But only the biggest fans make it to final 20, who travel to Dubai. I have been giving my best in actively participating in all the rounds, i’ve made it to the shortlist in Round 1. I did collect all the Fact Cards, answered a few Quiz questions fastest, completed the treasure hunt faster, after all for Fans who knew Saina well, they were a cakewalk.

In a cricket crazy nation with a population of 1.2+ Billion People, Individual sports don’t get the recognition it needs. That’s the way it was due to the love for Cricket, but slowly Individual Sports have caught the attention of Indian Sports Fans. Myself, being a avid cricket fan, I travel across various venues in South India to cheer for our Cricket Team.

0000 Saina Fan.jpg

But being a Badminton Player myself from School, the sport has been close to my heart. I had been playing Badminton since a kid as it helps us feel good,  motivated, enthusiastic, strong and fit. I have been following Saina, since she has been making news in 2004 by winning Junior National titles. Of course, since 2006 she started creating history by winning accolades at International Level, adding more and more laurels every year. Not just that, she has set an example and has also taken badminton in India to great heights. My quicker replies in various Round in Phase 1, is a proof that I follow Saina not just on the court, but also off across her social media profiles.

It would be my privilege and priceless opportunity for fans like me, to watch our Champ Play in such a prestigious tournament, and cheer for her. She has given us wonderful memories, holding our Flag High, and it will be a dream to be cheering for her in a different country, ensuring she feels at home and for her to give us yet another outstanding performance.  While we have been supporting her all these days, away from the court, being there while she takes to the court, will be a dream come true.

For a Sports Fanatic, this would be an awesome opportunity as well to see her live, cheer for her, and wave our flags in support. Not just that being an active social media user with a good Klout Score, I would love to keep the social media buzz alive with the build up and during the BWF super series finals, across my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook Timeline, and will also blog about it. Am sure it can also help Badminton reach more sports fans across and increase the following of the sport. Also visiting various cricket matches with fan groups has helped me a lot to build a fan squad for sporting teams and am sure being a part of Saina Squad, will also help the fellow fans/squad to have fun cheering our best for Saina. Cheering for our favorites, come from heart and am proud that am one of those fans.

Saina, you can be assured, you are never alone. We fans, are always with you, either on the crowd or watching it on TV, cheering for you, praying for you, to ensure you perform at your best and give what it takes to beat the opponents and become, the Best.

Go Saina, Make us Proud, as always. Go give your best and we are with you.

#EarlyStarters Get a Head Start to make your Child’s Dream a Reality

As they say, Earlybird Catches the Worm, Early Starters, sure get a head start and have an advantage to make the dreams of our Children a Reality.

Pilot, is what my elder son Adarsh wants to be, roaring into skies and flying to new places.

It’s not just his education which will help him realize his goals. Early Starts help him build the foundation for his dreams to turn them to reality as he grows by. I could see his interests on Aviation books, toys which surely relate to his dreams and hence he has a choice right from now. Learning about what he likes keeps the fire burning. I feel what he learns now will be forever in his mind.

He may change his focus one day, but then whatever he wants to be one thing is sure. Kids will quickly adapt themselves to focus on what they like. But as a parent, it’s my duty to ensure they have some sort of security in order to manage their financial needs when they grow up. Hence Periodic investment towards their education is a part of my finance planning since they turned one. Thanks to a few friends who introduced me to Savings ideas, I have diversified my savings with a mix of Deposits, Insurance Policies to protect and Policies which are Unit Linked which can grow with the market.

#EarlyStarters Adarsh Exploring Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington

In Addition, during our Holidays to US, I did take him to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington. The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum maintains the world’s largest and most significant collection of aviation and space artifacts, encompassing all aspects of human flight, as well as related works of art and archival materials. He got to learn a lot of things, exploring the science of Aerodynamics through activities specialized for Children, learnt about history of aviation and about basic principles of flight, saw the first Airplane found by Wright Brothers and much more. Since it’s related to his dream, am sure what he learns and observes now will help him when he grows up to chase his dreams till they turn reality.

Pay close attention to your child’s interests and nurture his talent early in life. You never know, he might be the next Sachin Tendulkar. Invest in your child’s future.http://bit.ly/1HWrH4k

Lights, Camera, Action #ChallengeVirat @godrejcinthol by @cricprabhu

We’ve seen Virat playing cricket, playing football, but hitting a Football with a Cricket Bat ?? !!,

ImageThats how Different was the Challenge Virat campaign and Event organised Godrej Cinthol to bring the fans #Alive and #Awesome.

Well, Virat said on 23rd May “Prabhu, you tried getting into my Head, now try throwing me a Challenge” , and Guess what?, I did and finally on the big day I did beat Virat on a Challenge.

Image

Return Air Tickets, Stay at Shangri La Eros, a Car at our disposal and Camera’s around us, Yes we were the Heroes of the Event when Godrej Cinthol decided to let us take on Virat in a face off at Talkatora Stadium in Newdelhi on 7th Aug.

Image

It was a fun filled afternoon while Virat relished the Challenge with 5 Awesome Challengers ( Sarath, Vineet, Adarsh, Prathamesh and myself Prabhu ) selected from Twitter, 1 Wild card Ankit from the gathered audience and MTV Roadies Season 8 Finalist Pooja. We did have a surprise young challenger Kanav who beat Virat on a mini penalty shootout challenge. Of Course Virat was kind to the little kid by taking it as slow as possible.  Screams of Virat “I love you” greeted the Awesome Star while he rocked the Arena.

Sarath challenged Virat to hit 6 different balls into the stands, Virat sent 3 into the stands.  Vineet asked Virat to hit one bounce four and he did hit 3 and Vineet did bowl Virat once. Prathamesh walked in with a baseball bat challenging to hit a six off it while both Virat and Prathamesh couldn’t and ended on a tie. Adarsh wanted to kick a football to the stumps and Virat showed his accuracy skills to beat him, Wild Card Ankit challenged to hit into the Stands and Virat lofted two of them quite easily, and finally MTV Roadies Season 8 Finalist Pooja Bannerjee challenged to bring down 50 bowling pins with 6 balls.

Image

Every Challenge was fun as Virat made it look simple and showed why he is Awesome. The Best part was to see Virat in a jovial mood replying “Naan Unnai Kadhalikiren” to Sarath when he talked in Tamil meaning “I love you”, Saying “Sorry Coach” to the Host,  trying to distract Adarsh during his football challenge and speaking about bowling challenge to his fans that he has the most funny bowling action and doesn’t bowl well. Yes Virat was at his Playful Best giving a visual treat to everyone gathered giving us Alive moments through his presence.

Image

I knew Virat could hit them big quite easily and had challenged to hit the stumps at Non Strikers End. Decided to keep it short not to let Virat drive them easily and did manage to ensure Virat doesnt beat me. It was fun as Virat imitated my spinning action and called me Ashwin. May be the Yellow Tee did the trick for me!!.  When it was my turn to face Virat, all I could do was to get one very very close that Virat pointed to stumps with his fingers and said that was very close. We had one super ball each to see if someone could break the tie, but again none of us could do it. Finally Virat declared me as a winner as I had been very close. It was a dream moment to bowl a few balls to Virat and of course face him too. Also, this trip did give me a chance to Catch up with twitter Pals Pawan and Jatin

Image

Virat who enjoys facing challenges in Life briefed why he decided to associate with Cinthol as he relates well to their Tagline “Alive is Awesome” and seemed to enjoy every minute of the #ChallengeVirat event as it was a different game altogether.

teamIt was more than a Dream to play and have fun with an Awesome Cricketer at this level and each one of us who got a chance to #ChallengeVirat will relish these memories for life. These are things which money can’t buy and we got to thank Godrej Cinthol Team, Creative Land for a Unique and Creative Campaign. Kudos to everyone who were behind the Perfect planning and Execution of the Fantastic Event.

After the event, it was extra special to meet Virat in Person for a minute where I handed over the Photo Magnets and Baggage Tag Gifts I had made for him. Also got an autograph for Chirag Makwana on his picture collage in order to surprise him on his wedding.  Another awesome Fan of Virat, Dileep had sent a collage for Autograph with Just Virat Blog Page, and other fan pages he manages including @viratgang, and after having a look, Virat asked “Can I keep it?”, Sure a special moment for the fan and I hope he gets to meet his star soon.  I could not manage autographs for all the fans who requested, but you guys will have your day too.

Sure Cinthol has more to come and all Virat fans must keep a close watch at Godrej Cinthol‘s Social Media – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram  You never know, “Alive is Awesome” and it may be YOU someday.
